For its summer party in the gART.n, this year Rooms of Kairos teams up with Romain Azzaro aka Rouge Mecánique and brings his radio concept to (real) life. “Smells Like Troubole” - a name that says it all. You get the spirit.
The radio show is monthly hosted by Refuge Worldwide, which also supports the event, represented by its co-founder Richard Akingbehin who will open the ball with an experimental set moving between electronics and dub.
For the live act, we are honoured to host Mohammad Reza Mortazavi, “drummer of freedom” (Der Spiegel), and we can’t wait to get touched and moved by his exceptional hand drumming - tombak and daf transcending the traditional techniques, in a concert that will mesmerize us with its trance-like rhythms.
To close, we are flying infamous Beirut DJ Ernesto Chahoud from London. In between the two cities, he runs the monthly “Beirut Daze” show on NTS radio and he is part of the Beirut Groove Collective, who definitely knows something about good parties. Ernesto, Lebanon vinyl guru, is going to spin a selection of guerrilla tunes from his broad-range collection of 7-inch records - expect a precious mix of Middle Eastern music, soul-infused afro beat, and much more.
