ROOMS FOR CREATIVE LIVES
NOTE (and exercise) - Depending on your interest, preference, and disposal of time, you can choose to read the text right below or the following one. The first is what we would expect from such a page nowadays - it tries to nail it, being as clear and short as possible. You could even just read its bold sentences, but I guess you would miss the distinctive character of the project. The second text is written in first person and invites to a much larger, intimate, eccentric reflection and introduction to the soul and to the work of the collective/agency. It’s more honest and it gives a much more realistic picture of it all, whether chaotic or funny. It’s the project, exposed.
Rooms of Kairos’ greater aim is to develop itself as a genuinely welcoming “home for creative professionals, music and sounds, art and signs, design and philosophy, projects and visions”.
The project takes off at the beginning of 2019, by inviting a small number of close artists to join and share their creative visions under the new-born star of Rooms of Kairos. The art agency cooperates with the artists for a larger diffusion of their concepts, projects and bodies of work, connecting with locations, institutions, customers, and various influential figures and projects of Berlin and beyond.
With zen approach, organic vision, experimental method, and natural networking, Rooms of Kairos scouts opportunities for shows, exhibitions, grants, commissions, and florid connections.
One of a kind, the agency doesn’t pretend to absolve artists from the responsibility of spreading their work, looking for new chances and expanding the potential of their connections, but it offers itself as a solid bridge to many and diverse opportunities and contributes to the artist’s growth with an affected on-going dialogue based on specialistic knowledge and years of experience in the curation of events and projects.
But this is not intended to be a one-way relationship. While supporting the artist, Rooms of Kairos shapes and refines its own aesthetic character. It expresses creatively through the curation of exhibitions and events. It researches and engages in a continuous observation and reflection on nowadays’ art. It participates at first hand to the very production of new cultural matters.
The agency also mediates the acquisition of artworks, specific commissions and services, and the involvement of the artists into your projects, visions, ventures, educational activities.
Moreover, Rooms of Kairos can offer you consultation and help you reach your goals in the fields of culture, support you to write or translate projects, presentations or applications, connect you with a wide number of creators, operators, technicians, services, and locations.
You are welcome to explore the pages dedicated to the first artists represented by Rooms of Kairos.
Feel free to learn and ask more, to visit the studio and know the artists through their works, to get in contact for any sort of inquiry.
Last but not least, if you would love to be involved in the project, cooperate, grow ideas together - as an artist or as an operator, just get in touch.
In any of these cases and in many others, you are welcome to our open Rooms!
Rooms of Kairos’ greater aim is to develop itself as a genuinely welcoming “home for creative professionals, music and sounds, art and signs, design and philosophy, projects and visions”.
The project reveals itself as a natural-born art agency - yet, this simple recognisable definition will change (hopefully pretty soon), to be replaced by a more exact formula. The invention of new terminologies or the transformation of words’ usual meanings are amongst the interests of Rooms of Kairos.
In the meanwhile, by pairing up the definition of “agency” to the one of “collective”, the project’s approach to cooperation should be better portrayed.
Here I’d like to express in first person, for the first time.
This specific operational side of Rooms of Kairos is the most natural consequence to my years of studies in the field of culture and arts, employment in Italian museums and cultural institutions, pirate autonomous (really subversive at times) creative life in and around Berlin, work in various art and music projects and events.
From my perspective, the “study and work endeavor” easily translates into a much more interesting and meaningful “life and art journey”, and reflects into a personal (but shared) heritage of experiences and memories, on-going friendships and collaborations, explorations and experimentations, lessons of won and lost challenges, know-hows and insatiable curiosities. In my specific case, all of this converges to create the figure of an independent curator (whose existence cannot stand alone).
As well, these Rooms I am establishing - or sometimes simply pointing out at - are at first conceived through an almost exclusively individual effort, yet just to be opened, one minute later, to a wider network of people, impulses, possibilities, and influences.
As I had the chance and the privilege to found my own space and project, I started building a peculiar way to represent a small number of artists, under a sort of soft contract agreement, mostly based on mutual support. The intention is to bridge their work to a larger number of people, locations, customers, creative figures and operators. More than like an agency, this might look like a group of friends or like a little family, where - willing or not - I happen to figure as a mama and offer a home to our creative encounters, actions, and expressions.
But it’s none of these words: “agency”, “friends”, “family”, “home”, and for sure not “mama”… Not exactly. And none of these words is chosen for its common interpretation or to give an actual description, but an orientation, a feeling, an understanding.
“ROOMS” and “KAIROS”! These are the only words that I feel like trusting, underlining, and subscribing again.
Spaces / Times (whether real, concrete, imaginative, ideal, surreal, parallel, distorted, clear… ) in which we meet to practice a “being ourselves”, growing our persons, expression and creativity in ever more advanced and crystalline ways.
(Very free Rooms for a bunch of “Psychic Nomads” * )
We are bond in common interests; our personal lives and creative outputs overlap with our daily work; we establish a feeling of trust in each other; we share certain values and a particular mindset; we intend or happen to connect again over the years, in old and new places and configurations.
We work as an organic open collective. Art and music events are the natural consequence or the reason of our collaborations, and, most importantly, the occasion for sharing our creative outcomes with an ever wider circle of friends and passionate people.
As a curator and founder of the project, to start, I invited a few artists to share their creations with me.
While building the aesthetic character of Rooms of Kairos, I help them reach a larger diffusion for their concepts, projects, and bodies of work.
Meanwhile, I do my best to connect them with different locations, contacts, customers, institutions, and other creative figures and projects of Berlin and beyond.
With zen approach, organic visions, and experimental method, I scout opportunities for a show, an exhibition, a grant, a commission or a florid connection - all moving through a rhizomatic network of people, places, ventures, and concepts. I offer my self as a bridge, and contribute with my experience, knowledge, writings, affected dialogue, mediation, and channels.
With the passage of time, I’d love Rooms of Kairos to represent more and more artists.
By now, I am glad to introduce you to the first ones - to my solid and beloved test-group - with whom I already had great times and satisfactions.
Feel welcome to learn and ask more, to pass by the studio to visit and get to know the artists through their works, to hit me up for any inquiry or idea you might want to grow together.
Last but not least, if you are interested in acquiring any of the artworks presented on the website or in our shows, I’ll be glad to act as a mediator.
You might also want to ask for a specific service, from me (consulting, writing, connecting…) or from the artists, to involve one of them in some educational activity, or to exhibit and have them participating a specific project.
Moreover, if you would love to be involved in the project, as an artist or as an operator, you are welcome to get in touch with me. Even though by now I might not be able to promise any one-o-one full-on cooperation. I am happy anyhow to know you and your work, and to consider any kind of idea.
In any of these cases and in many others, you are so welcome to our open Rooms!
