Ableton Skills ° online coaching sessions with mf jaeger

At the end of March, Rooms of Kairos was meant to host a series of in-studio workshops dedicated to sound production guided by mf jaeger. Due to the Covid-19, we thought to restructure the offer in the form of online coaching sessions. A good way to support a musician and to use well this mountain of time that's been given back to us all.

We'd like to invite again all interested attendees, whether beginners or advanced producers, to join our guide mf jaeger and explore Ableton's features, learn tricks, ask questions, deepen knowledge, and thrive in music.
Below you can find the descriptions for the original workshops. You can take this same information as an example of the possible content of your session or as an inspiration for you to structure your personal coaching.
You and your friends or music mates - up to 4 people - can team up for a collective session too!
The right environment for your online exchange will be created on https://jitsi.org/.
Feel free to get in touch with mf jaeger at his email address for any further question or to organise your session - mfj.hyenafarmfromspace999@gmail.com

Designed for those who want to start their music adventures, who need a helping hand to step into the world of production, or who wish find answer the many questions popping up during the first times approaching Ableton Live.

Focus: sound production techniques
Ableton essentials
sampling techniques
introduction to jam, live set & rough mix

You need: computer with test version (https://www.ableton.com/de/trial/)

a sweet short sound (optional)

THE UNIVERSE OF (RE)SAMPLING - Focus Module I
Stretching an iconic piece of sound 500 times slower, slicing your environment into 100 artefacts and orchestrating them live...
You adore a specific sound from this psychedelic track? You appreciate some noises from your environment, bike or cat? Let's build a musical journey with it!
No matter if you're up for a remix, an edit, or just playing with sounds from your everyday life - the possibilities to turn those recordings into something totally new are endless and teach us: music is first and foremost reinterpreting the discovered beauty into something novel.
In this Focus Module, we will further use sounds drawn from common objects that are not usually considered particularly musical. "Found sounds", which can range from machines and industrial equipment to the chirp of an insect and beyond, were an important factor in the development of musique concrete, and are a vital source of sound from John Cage to Burial - to nearly every contemporary artist who wants to include real-world happenings into their musical productions.

You need: at least 5 found sounds or minimalistic track elements you collected
computer with Ableton
headphones

PLAYING LIVE SETS WITH ABLETON - Focus Module II
Playing live sets is more than simply playing tracks that you produced in the studio. Playing live sets connects the details of your various productions - with the present moment, with the audience and with other artists who might be playing with you. And Ableton provides a kickass environment to build this. While playing, you recreate with all the toys and sketches you accumulated and, above all, you learn a ton about your music.
In this Focus Module, we will dig deep into the realms of what's possible and what's fun to do with the immense amount of unfinished tracks snoozing on your laptop. Together we will dig them up and transform them into an unpredictable journey. In the last part of the module, we will discuss how you can further slowly build a cooperative intelligence - joining forces with other artists on stage.

You need: (un)finished tracks that sleep on your laptop
computer with Ableton
headphones
if you have, a midi controller and Ableton Push
