Artworks by Isabelle Tellié and Nicolas ‘NIKI’ Kramar

Questioning our sense of reality - cognition, presence, distance, focus, movement… The perceptive operations that we establish in relation to the sculptural paintings presented in this exhibition are usually welcomed as a playful physical and aesthetical exercise. Our journey could end here, or we could go a few steps further, to penetrate the layers of these artworks and let ourselves be provoked by their hidden messages, theories and inquiries. Moving across the realms of physics and philosophy, and far from any conceptualism - just as a poem can drive us from images and sounds to emotions and meanings, Isabelle Tellié and NIKI invite us to stroll around the subtle concrete and theoretical depths of their multidimensional compositions.

Isabelle Tellié

To focus, while allowing perception to wander and wonder.
To order and to structure, while letting natural chaos and imagination breathe.
To hold, while letting go, in order to fully achieve concrete and yet open messages.
Isabelle Tellié’s body of work favors and proves the coexistence of these double-sided factors, merging the antithetical into a dynamic phenomenal whole.

NIKI - PHASE III:2 postcard.JPG

Nicolas ‘NIKI’ Kramar

Surgical method. Exact composition and sequence. In NIKI’s work, we can enjoy a solid configuration of spaces and structures. And yet, while exploring the potentially infinite scales of his prospects, we risk stumbling down unexpected steps, dazed by the physics of interference, losing orientation in a labyrinth of morphing shadows. Approaching NIKI’s creations, we end up standing between a certainty and a question, on a fine-tuned verge between the simplicity of the fundamental shapes and the complexity of their modes.
